Current score: 71-69, Sparks, with two minutes remaining in the game.

L.A. on a 10-3 run over the past three minutes.

Poorly-played game but competitive.

Final score: Los Angeles 78 New York 73.

Chelsea Gray saved the day for the Sparks with a game-high 29 points.

The Liberty are the only winless team (0-3) in the WNBA.

New York hosts Washington this Friday night.

I'd make Washington a 7-point road choice.

With a two-point basket late in the game, Tina Charles became the all-time leading scorer in New York Liberty history, surpassing current Las Vegas Aces assistant coach Vickie Johnson.

Liberty so bad, in all facets. Tina Charles needs a new home and quick...

She's only 30 but feels much older.

Charles missed a critical three-point shot late in the game today against the Sparks and then hit a meaningless two to break Vickie Johnson's record as the all-time leading scorer in New York Liberty history a few possessions later when the game was already decided.

Seattle's acting head coach Gary Kloppenburg is the son of legendary basketball coach Bob Kloppenburg, who served as an assistant (defensive coordinator) under George Karl for Seattle in the NBA.

Bob Kloppenburg was widely regarded as a defensive wiz and Gary is trying to follow in his father's footsteps.

Bob wrote a book titled "SOS Pressure Defense: Sequential Ongoing Strategies."

I smell a blowout tomorrow night in the Sky-Mystics game.

Chicago wants to play fast and that's playing into Washington's hands.

The Mystics should win by double digits.

I smell a blowout tomorrow night in the Sky-Mystics game.

Chicago wants to play fast and that's playing into Washington's hands.

The Mystics should win by double digits.
But that might not get the money. Opened -10.5 and is now 12 so a 2B Digit win is no guarantee they get to the window

The market has a high opinion of the Mystics, and rightly so.

I thought the number would open in the three-possession neighborhood (7-9 points).

Pass on the side.

Researching the total now.

A total of 170 is high but these teams get up and down.

Though early-season shooting in the WNBA is off from 2018 numbers.

Last season, teams shot .345 from beyond the arc compared to .318 in 2018.

From inside the arc, teams are only shooting .454 this season compared to last year's number of .485.

The main reason for the league's struggles: No Maya Moore, no Diana Taurasi, no Breanna Stewart, no Sue Bird, no Angel McCoughtry, etc.

Mystics line too large for this time of year. Two big plays for me tonight:

Chicago +12
Chicago over 78.5 TT

I have a "game" crush on Diamond Deshields. Think she has a big one tonight

Thanks for your input, Cho.

Chicago backcourt players Courtney Vandersloot and Allie Quigley have a crush on one another.

The two were married last December.

Wonder if NBA players will ever marry one another?

Good luck to you, the Sky and Diamond Deshields whose brother and father both played Major League Baseball.

I'm both a selection-based handicapper AND a valued-based handicapper.

I forecasted Washington to easily handle Chicago tonight before any pointspreads were published.

However, I thought Washington would be a 7 or 8 or 9-point favorite (my prediction on the pointspread, not my predicted final margin of victory).

The current number reads Washington -12 (-11.5 at CGT).

Despite the market's love for the Mystics and the apparent "value" on Chicago, I do not want to bet the Sky tonight.

Washington looked great in its last game at home while Chicago played miserably in its only road game of the season.

Final score: Washington 90 Chicago 78.

I'll be watching the Sky-Mystics replay later tonight.

Notes to follow.

Washington's next game is Friday night in Westchester against New York while Chicago doesn't play until Sunday night at home against Seattle in a quick rematch of a game played at the same site on June 1.

Chicago defeated Seattle, 83-79, last Saturday.

Final score: Washington 103 Chicago 85.

Elena Delle Donne improved to 7-0 against her former team.

Like EDD, Kristi Toliver also played for the Sky but only for one season.

She was the third overall pick in the 2009 WNBA Draft by the Chicago Sky before getting traded in 2010 to the Los Angeles Sparks for a second-round draft pick in 2011.

Emma Meesseman is heading to Spain to represent Belgium for an international tournament this week.

Meesseman will be gone from the Mystics for the entire month of June.

Washington is a finesse team but they are really good.

Gun to my head, they will win the 2019 WNBA title after losing to the Storm in the WNBA Finals last season.

Score after one quarter: Washington 27 Chicago 25.

Neither team interested in playing defense.

Great offensive spacing by the Mystics.

The Mystics no longer are playing their home games at Capital One Arena.

After playing there since their inaugural season in 1998, starting this season, the team will play at the much smaller Entertainment Sports Arena in Southeast that opened last year.

Capacity is 4,200,

Tonight's attendance was 2,347.

And the ladies want more money?

Ridiculous.

Chicago's starting backcourt of Courtney Vandersloot and Allie Quigley were a combined 2-for-14 on the night for only five points in 52 combined minutes.

Yuk.

I've circled Tuesday, June 11 as a great betting opportunity.

Washington to defeat Connecticut at Mohegan Sun Arena after losing to the Sun on the opening weekend of the season.

EDD did not play for the Mystics that night.

Kristi Toliver suffered a bruised knee in the first half and sat out most of the second half with ice applied to her knee.

Connecticut closed a 5.5-point fave and won going away, 84-69.

Washington finished 3-for-21 from behind the arc.

Quick rematch and the return of EDD and Toliver favors the Mystics.
