As Covid-19 spreads, so do mental-health problems, especially among Gen Z and Millennials. A lot of this has to do with uncertainty.

In the U.S., the national rate of anxiety tripled in the second quarter compared to the same period in 2019 (from 8.1% to 25.5%), and depression almost quadrupled (from 6.5% to 24.3%). In Britain, which has also had a severe outbreak and a long lockdown, depression has roughly doubled, from 9.7% of adults before the pandemic to 19.2% in June.

Lockdowns don't kill anyone. There are no enforced lockdowns anywhere in the USA, no mandatory stay at home orders, no phased reopenings, no social distancing. Some businesses are closed or limited by local ordinance but again, highly unlikely that mental health suffers without a trip to the pub. If it does, you just may have been unwell all along.

Depression during this pandemic can be the result of uncertainty, finances, school, job prospects, loss of someone close, fear of getting sick, worrying about family, being laid off and a myriad of other things. Those things present themselves with or without "lockdown".

If anyone has confirmed stats on deaths caused by social distancing or mandatory confinment in the USA please show. Again nowhere in the USA has one person been confined by law to his or her dwelling.

Sounds like an overblown make of convenience or a bullshit excuse for a high death toll.

Yes they shut down because of lack of business, nobody is locked down anywhere. There are no mandatory lockdowns anywhere.

Mandatory lockdowns were used successfully in many countries, not the USA.

A layoff is not a lockdown.

Non essential business closures are not "lockdowns". Non essential means they are not required to sustain daily life.

Lockdowns are forced confinement. Many countries ised lockdowns, the USA did not.

Closing a non essential business did not cause more deaths than the virus as you so brilliantly proposed.

Please list the number of deaths caused by non essential business closures.
