Heading there tonight to watch a few games.

Several years ago, I met "The Judge" at Chubbs for a friendly get-together.

Some of these "independent bookmakers" write some good business.

There's a gentleman from Texas nicknamed BUBBA who uses the old poker room at the Del Rey to book sports nowadays.

Hopefully Jessie is still a bartender there...her daughter also works there....if Greg is there, give him a heads up that I will be in town...

I've heard it said Costa Ricans don't really like Americans but they do like our money.

1 USD equals about 570 colones.

Just back after watching the Costa Rican National Basketball Team practice in preparation for an upcoming tournament.

The term "ragtag" immediately came to mind when watching tonight's practice.

A full report to be published tomorrow.

Before you told me/us what it was I gave it a three(3).

Knowing what I know now a seven and a quarter(7.25).

I like fish with some kind of slop sauce on top of it!

I appreciate the scoring system down to the hundredth point.

A score of 7.25 made me chuckle.

Consider it done, Joe.

I'm looking right now at the seven-story building housing CRIS with countless satellite dishes sitting atop the structure on Central Avenue.

I chuckled at the presence of a security guard toting a machine gun near the front entrance.

Re: Business trip to Costa Rica

I'm loving my time here in San Jose, Costa Rica.

Last night, I had a chance to watch the men's national basketball team from Costa Rica practice at National Gymnasium on the east side of Sabana Park.

Putting in nicely, this ragtag outfit will find it impossible to compete on the international stage.

In trying to find an American equivalent to the Costa Rican national team, they would have a hard time holding the court on a Saturday afternoon at your random (pick a city) 24 Hour Fitness gym.

Coach Josh Erickson spent the better part of an hour trying to explain Wisconsin's swing offense to a team that had trouble grasping the basics of basketball.

Erickson set a low bar for his team when he announced each member of the squad would take 12 free throws and if the group as a unit combined to hit at least 65% of their attempts, they would not have to run sprints.

Sixty-five percent?

I think they accomplished the feat (barely) because no one was running after the free-throw attempts.

What the Costa Ricans lack in basketball talent, they more than make up for it with world-class soccer players.

The men's soccer team has been a source of national pride and they'll be competing in the upcoming World Cup while their U.S.A counterparts watch on television.

Coming up: A couple of pictures from my time watching the Costa Ricans play basketball.

I'll be meeting up with longtime EOG contributor and razor-sharp gambler MACAU early next week.

Looking forward to it.

Consider it done.

He called me one(1) night from the Trump Hotel.

He said come over and let's go out.

I told him I was not stupid.

I said give me your name and room number, and I will call you right back.

MACAU gave me his name/room number.

I Googled the Trump Hotel phone number.

Called it.

Asked for room #???(I forgot the number of course).

The operator said OK.

A few seconds later MACAU picked up.

I met MACAU at Trump Hotel an hour later.

We went to Nine Fine Irishmen at New York New York.

After five hours and ten(10) twenty(20) ounce beers we decided to part ways about 6:00am in the morning.

I am sure he remembers.

NOBODY FORGETS hanging with The MeatMan!

We then met a few months later for a steak dinner at the Trump Hotel, but that's a story for another night.

Maryland on Sunday should bring home the bacon for you

Thanks for the advance play.

I'll give you one for Tuesday of next week: Northwestern over Michigan to quickly avenge a recent loss in Ann Arbor.

I don't blindly buy revenge but I love to analyze quick rematches.

you didn't go to cr to bet or play hoops. .show us the tica's

I have not yet been involved with the ladies.

The ordinary women of San Jose, not the working girls, are beautiful.

Thin waists and curvy bottoms packed into tight jeans.

What's better, the attitudes of the girls in Costa Rica.

They smile at men and show appreciation when members of the opposite sex whistle their approval.

Contrast this style to American women where flirting of any kind could get a man slapped in the face or worse yet, headed to the unemployment line.
