Opening Day is Wednesday.

Attendance last year was 34,128, a serious decline from the 42,562 that attended Opening Day 2016.

The 79th summer season will present 36 racing days.

Closing day is Monday, September 3.

Bejarano and Prat will battle for the top mounts once again.

Prat with nine mounts on Wednesday against Bejarano's eight.

Prat just won the Los Alamitos Derby aboard Once On Whiskey at odds of 7/1.

Patient, very patient.

The never-ending stretch at Los Al is perfect for Prat.

Once On Whiskey also fit the "other Baffert" angle.

Baffert's Ax Man finished third at odds of 7/10.

Dirt, Turf, Pavement any surface anytime.

I once seen Prat ride a winner on the rail in front of
a local Walmart on a coin operated horsey.

Won in a Canter...

D'Amato believes the best 3YO turf horse won't be running in the Oceanside, but the following day in an OC80N1X. He's been vocal about this one for a while now on the radio. Andesh didn't have the purse earnings to make the Oceanside.

I got my TRACKSIDE DINING TABLE for Friday Aug 3rd. I go every year. Table for 4 cost $150 ($100 last year) this year with nothing included but I love that place. The women dress up like they are going to the Oscars. Im counting the days. At least 9 horses in each race for opening day. WHERE THE TURF MEETS THE SURF!!

The ladies at Del Mar trump the ladies at Saratoga.

The ocean is cool too.

Not many advantages for Del Mar over Saratoga after those two features.

A total of 111 horses were entered last Saturday for Wednesday's Opening Day 10-race card.

Only 104 horses will be able to run because half of the day's races were oversubscribed.

You once posted something about how its really about being a race to the first pole rather than final time...so I'm gonna post some of my natural speed rating pups for ya here at Del Mar. Its still in Beta but lets see how it goes

I must agree Del Mar only beats the Spa in the women and beach categories.

Just my opinion, others may feel different.

Thanks for sharing, Ray.

The Luca code lists a selection with a two-digit number, the first digit is the race number and the second digit is the horse number.

So "11" is the one horse in the first race.

yes true a tad more beautiful as a whole.
but then they have to open their mouths, ouch

these plastic gals although dreamers which could be fun are shallow and fake. ’toga area girls are lot more lively sharp with a little nasty aggressiveness which can be bottled into a grand time.

but those are what me speed figures have, results vary

American girls waste of time. Plastic and fake...annoying....most on meds.

Nasty aggressiveness can be a negative quality when the Saratoga lady eventually turns on you.

Order of finish in today's opener: 6-7-2.

Popular Kid, Bejarano up, storms home on the far outside.

trying to hit 4 exactas in 10 races. In r1, I had the #6 on top, but did not include the #7 underneath.
