stars best team so far. Fl should beat Rangers in series if both advance as shesterkin not good on short rest and not as good as previous years. For Carolina to win game 5 they need Kochetkov to start over Anderson. Anderson save rate down to .877 last 4 games, letting up some bad goals. Could be hurt, with a history of health issues. Looking at under 1q today in Fl-Bos. Bos best player out, might play a defensive start.

I agree Frederik Andersen should stay out of game five.
I would say that he’s been unlucky in playoffs but after all these years it’s possible he’s got personal issues preventing him from raising his
game up to a higher level. Also he has been injury prone.
He has, however, banked a ton of cash despite never having won anything.
Career, he has signed 5 contracts worth a total value of $46,650,000.

Taking Av’s tonight -115 ML pinnacle.
While they lost 4-1 on Saturday, 2 goals were EN.
Their advanced stats reflected a superior effort creating offensive opportunities.
The score did not reflect the better team.
The outcome should be different tonight.

Valeri Nichuskin failed a drug test and is suspended, Devon Toews is out with an illness, two big losses for the Avs

The loss of Valeri Nichushkin will be felt by his team mates.
He was a key player on their Stanley Cup winning team two years ago.
By now he’s become like family.
Nichushkin, at 29 years old, with size and strength, 6’4” and 210 lbs, was the team’s 2nd line winger.
He lead the Av’s with 9 goals in this year’s playoffs.
Huge loss for the team.

Carolina-NYR series getting interesting, as Pro said Carolina's goaltending letting them down in this series, let's see if we get game 7 after tomorrow. Nichushkin is a big loss for the Avs, I felt him not being there last year was a big reason they got knocked early by the Kraken as he's a big body who can skate and score.

Did some accounting for the year in the thread, 1st play and post was the best play and most profitable taking the Sharks to finish last in the league. Includes the last losing plays on Panthers in game 1

33-13-2 = +22.27 units

Dallas has taken a commanding lead in their series with the Av’s by doing many things well.
More than anything, they have completely neutralized the Av’s top players Mackinnon, Rantanen and Makar.

While the advanced stats reflect corsi dominance by the Av’s big, 3 creating a big edge in offensive chances,
the +/- for them is a different story.
Bottom line, the best offensive players for Colorado have been guilty of allowing too many goals against.
Mackinnon is -6, same for Makar, Rantanen is -5.
The Av’s are showing they are deeply flawed defensively and the Stars have taken full advantage of this.
If coach Bednar can’t find a solution in time for tonight’s game, Stars will win, and this series is done.

It’s widely acknowledged that playoff hockey is characterized, in general, by tight checking and lower scoring.
It’s the postseason when players take on greater responsibility for back checking and disciplined positional play.
The PP and PK also take on greater significance.

But more than anything else, playoff champions depend greatly on goaltending performances.
This fact is borne out when you consider 17 of the 59 Conn Smythe Trophy winners were goaltenders.

This year’s goaltending picture has been a conundrum.
Injuries and inconsistency has led to goaltending problems for every team but FLA and NYR.

This stability in net could possibly lead to either FLA or NYR winning the Stanley Cup.
It’s as good an argument as any at this juncture.

The franchise of perpetual failure, the Maple Leafs, this week, hired Craig Berube as their next coach.

The 58-year-old ex-Leafs winger has a 281-190 regular-season record across stints with Philadelphia and St. Louis,
winning the Stanley Cup behind the Blues’ bench in 2019.
He’s considered more a no-nonsense motivator than a tactician.

Looks like Bettman wasn’t ready to remove the shackles from Joel Quenneville.

Dallas won the game twice, they scored in OT but the shit for brains officials disallowed the goal, glad justice prevailed, think they win the West

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!

I have "no horse in the race" but that was a GOOD goal in OT. Makar was the one who pushed the Dallass skater into the goalie. That was a GOOD GOAL! Thankfully Dallass won anyway

The Vancouver Canucks will be without one of the leading playoff goal scorers, Brock Boeser, Monday night for game 7 against the Oilers.

Boeser is dealing with a non-life-threatening blood clotting issue.

Boeser, 26, has been a key player for the Canucks this post-season scoring seven goals and 12 points in 12 games.
His goal total leads all Canucks players, while his point total is tied with linemate J.T. Miller.

I bet the stars for a big play to beat Edmonton in the series. Stars with a big goal tending advantage. Edmonton with 13 players having played 75 reg season games, are at a big fatigue dis advantage.

Looking at the Eastern Conference an interesting observation is the fact that regular season
fewest goals against were as follows: FLA 200, Canes 216, BOS 224, and NYR 229.

Coincidentally these 4 teams that had the 4 lowest goals against in the conference were
the same four teams to emerge victorious in the initial round of the playoffs.

Clearly, the teams with the best defensive systems win in playoff hockey.

Also, nobody’s taking penalties anymore.
Power plays have become much more rare than in regular season.
Discipline rules.

It’s also important to note that FLA and NYR gained valuable experience following
their defensive game plans in their respective prior series against similar defensive teams.

Conclusion is don’t expect over totals in this series.
The remainder of the series will likely be low scoring.

It’s becoming cultural by now.

The question to ask here is: Will the Rangers/Panthers be favored over either Dallass/Oilers?

If Oilers: YES!
Dallass: I think so, but not sure.

Not a bad play knowing odds are very good the EC comes favored over the WC and probably by at least -150 or more

Teams play more disciplined in the playoffs, but I also think the refs tend to look the other way when it comes to making calls, a little roughing or interference might not get called in the playoffs like it would during the season, which I like, let the players play, only call the obvious ones, not the ticky tack stuff
