I’m also taking Dallas next game.
I’m giving Stars an edge based on discipline and experience.
I’m also giving them an edge in goal.
I’m seeing some regression with Skinner game in 3.

TV analysts were critical of Oiler mistakes in last game.
Especially pulling their goalie. Timing was wrong. Failed to establish offensive zone.
Bouchard looked like he wasn’t even aware Skinner was on the bench.

Not square at all.
Just look at the changes imposed on Bob and Igor yesterday.
Their routines were totally messed up.
New meal times, sleep schedule.
No morning skate.
New barn in Sunrise.
They were both still asleep most of the game.

I 've been involved minimally ingame on the sides of the Oilers-Stars series. After the Stars went up 2-0 during game 4, I'm really surprised the Oilers have outscored them 8-1 since then. Skinner arguably had his best game in a long time in game 5. Should be interesting how this plays out since we probably haven't seen the Stars best complete game in this series.

I think the Panthers win the series, they're deeper and have a better goalie, I said the same thing about Dallas, but the Panthers are a better version of Dallas and I can't see Skinner playing that well again, the Panthers just beat arguably the top three goalies in the league in Vaselevsky, Swayman, and Shesterkin, Skinner while he's played well, isn't in their class, I expect the Oilers stars to get theirs, but Bob will be the best goalie they've faced in the playoffs and they haven't played against a style of game like the Panthers play, an analyst on the NHL Network described their style perfectly, he said they're like a boa constrictor, they slowly squeeze the life out of their opponent, they play a smothering style of defense, they constantly hold teams to fewer SOG than that team averages, after reaching the finals last year and coming up short, I think this is their year

Before Paul Maurice got here the Panthers played a more wide open game, they led the league in goals scored and were fun as hell to watch, but that style doesn't work in the playoffs and they lost in the first round, Maurice took over and completely changed the style of hockey they play to a more defensive minded game, a style more suited for playoff success, down here we call it "Paul Ball", he's been here two seasons and reached the finals both years, they forecheck the fuck out of their opponents, they play a physical style, they muck it up, they grind, and when the game ends they usually have one more goal than the other team

Thanks for the info, props, write ups, fun to read. That's the only way I could see the Oilers take over this series is if their PP scores at a high level. Panthers lean on you and forecheck the heck out of you, it's draining and its hard for me to believe the Oilers can keep up over a full series. But if they do it will be a great story!

Two big differences in the hits, Bennett didn't leave his feet, Draisaitel did, Draisiatel launched himself forward and into Barkov, both hits were high, but to me the difference is Bennet not leaving his feet, also McDavid didn't leave the game, he got up immediately and skated to the bench, I don't think he even missed a shift, whereas Barkov needed help to get back to the locker room, never returned and his status for game 3 is unknown

Not so sure he's in the twilight of his career, age wise yes, but not performance wise, in fact he's playing some of the best hockey of his career this year, now some of that can be explained by the Panthers style, which is very goaltender friendly, but every Panthers player will tell you Bob's the hardest worker on the team, keeps himself in great shape, no reason why he couldn't play another few years if he wants to

I'd be more inclined to watch out for the 2 goaltenders if revenge is the topic of the day. Or the rest of the series. They are both clearly the most vulnerable.

Panthers don't make a lot of mistakes, Oilers 0-7 on the Power Play so far in the finals and their defensive depth will be tested with some injuries on the back end. D - Ceci gets benched, Desharnais, Nurse are a problem right now in my opinion and Bouchard's periodical giveaways are an issue. Forward Evander Kane is dealing with a hernia issue. Oilers are mirroring the Panthers from last year when they had 4 key injuries in the finals against the Golden Knights. There's always an overreactions especially when the home team wins the first 2 games at home. Even if Barkov is out for the Panthers in game 3 I have a hard time seeing the Oilers winning the next 2 games at home but I could be wrong. I guess if the Oilers Power Play wakes up that could be a great asset in getting back in the series but at this point it's hard for me to imagine that happening, Let's see .... stay tuned!
