Current TV is an independent media company led by former U.S. vice president Al Gore and businessman Joel Hyatt. The cable television network went on the air at midnight EDT (4:00 UTC) on the morning of August 1, 2005.

After the 2000 U.S. presidential election,Gore and Hyatt wanted to start a conventional cable news network. They were disenchanted with the existing networks, especially CNN.
The plan evolved into making a viewer-generated channel aimed at an audience demographic age 18?34.

On May 4, 2004,INdTV Holdings, a company co-founded by Gore and Joel Hyatt, purchased cable news channel News World International (NWI) from Vivendi Universal for the express purpose of launching their new network with the space on some digital cable lineups (and DirecTV ) that NWI had.

The new network would not have political leanings, Gore said, but would serve as an "independent voice" for a target audience of people between 18 and 34 "who want to learn about the world in a voice they recognize and a view they recognize as their own." Other reports said that Gore hoped that the channel would help change the tide of "consolidation and conglomeratization" of the media by leading the change to "democratization."
The news network was said to be a combination between CNN,MTV,and blipverts.

The North Korean military detained two American journalists working for Current TV in March 2009 after they allegedly crossed into North Korea from China.

Federal judge Denny Chin has decided calling someone homosexual
wouldn't be considered defamatory because of changing societal attitudes.

Judge: Calling Someone Gay
No Longer Defamatory

<!-- google_ad_section_start --> Regarding a lawsuit filed (PDF) by Anna Nicole Smith's former lover and lawyer Howard K. Stern, the New York Law Journal reports federal judge Denny Chin has ruled that "calling someone a homosexual would not be considered defamation per se."

Stern sued TV journalist Rita Cosby, whose book, Blond Ambition: The Untold Story Behind Anna Nicole Smith's Death, claims that he and Larry Birkhead (the father of Smith's daughter) had engaged in sexual relations. Chin, who recently put Madoff behind bars) said, "Gay conduct is no longer a crime, and that gays and lesbians are no longer viewed as shameful or odious." This shift in thought, he commented, was because "of a veritable sea change in attitudes about homosexuality."

However, Chin did allow 11 of the 19 alleged defamatory statements to go to trial, such as Cosby's claim that Smith had frequently watched sex tapes featuring Birkhead and Stern and that Stern pimped Smith out. [via Joe. My. God]

Obama administration moves to strike down Defense of Marriage Act

<storylead></storylead>A pro-family leader says the Obama administration is playing dishonest "Chicago-style politics" by defending the Defense of Marriage Act while undermining the law in a court filing.
<storybody></storybody>
The Obama Justice Department today filed court papers claiming the 1996 Defense of Marriage Act discriminates against homosexuals. In the meantime, the DOJ lawyers are seeking to dismiss a suit brought by a homosexual California couple challenging DOMA. (See Associated Press story below)

Gary Bauer, president of American Values, says President Obama is committed to repealing DOMA -- but does not want to take the political flak that would come along with it.

"What the White House wants is for a court to strike down the Defense of Marriage Act so that the White House and the president don't have to take the political damage for undermining a law that protects normal marriage," he explains.

Bauer argues Obama is contradicting a campaign pledge. "President Obama ran promising he would be open and transparent, and no longer practice the usual politics of Washington, DC," he notes. "Millions of people voted for him because they thought he would be more honest and more open in the way he governed."

According to Bauer, that is not happening. "What we're seeing here is something more reminiscent of the way they do politics in the wards of Chicago -- saying one thing and then doing something else behind the scenes," he states.

If the Defense of Marriage Act is overturned by White House maneuvering or a federal court, every state would be forced to recognize same-sex "marriages" that are now legal in states like Massachusetts.

*************************************************************

WASHINGTON, DC - The Obama administration filed court papers Monday claiming a federal marriage law discriminates against homosexuals, even as government lawyers continue to defend the law.

Justice Department lawyers are seeking to dismiss a suit brought by a same-sex California couple challenging the 1996 Defense of Marriage Act. The administration's response to the case has angered homosexual activists who see it as backtracking on campaign promises made by Barack Obama.

In the court papers, the administration urges the repeal of the law but says in the meantime, government lawyers will continue to defend it as a law on the books.

The government's previous filing in the case angered homosexual rights activists who supported Obama's candidacy in part because of his pledge to move forward on repealing the law and the "don't ask, don't tell" policy that prevents homosexuals from serving openly in the military.

"The administration believes the Defense of Marriage Act is discriminatory and should be repealed," said Justice Department spokeswoman Tracy Schmaler, because it prevents equal rights and benefits.

The Justice Department, she added, is obligated "to defend federal statutes when they are challenged in court. The Justice Department cannot pick and choose which federal laws it will defend based on any one administration's policy preferences."

The law, often called DOMA, denies federal recognition of same-sex "marriage" and gives states the right to refuse to recognize same-sex marriages performed in other states. Obama has pledged to work to repeal the law.

Monday's court filing was in response to a lawsuit by Arthur Smelt and Christopher Hammer, who are challenging the federal law, which prevents couples in states that recognize same-sex unions from securing Social Security spousal benefits, filing joint taxes, and benefiting from other federal rights connected to marriage.

Justice lawyers have argued that the act is constitutional and contend that awarding federal marriage benefits to homosexuals would infringe on the rights of taxpayers in the 30 states that specifically prohibit same-sex marriages.

Earlier this year, Massachusetts became the first state to challenge the law in court.

The Psychological Profession and Homosexuality: Lunatics Running the Asylum?

Special Report Commentary by Matthew Cullinan Hoffman

WASHINGTON, August 14, 2009 (LifeSiteNews.com) - A man goes to a psychologist with a problem. "Doctor," he says, "I'm suffering terribly. I feel like a woman trapped inside the body of a man. I want to become a woman."

The psychologist responds: "No problem. We can discuss this idea for a couple of years, and if you're still sure you want to be a woman, we can have a surgeon remove your penis, give you hormones for breast enlargement and make other changes to your body. Problem solved."

Gratified, the first patient leaves, followed by a second. "Doctor," he says, "I feel terrible. I'm a man but I feel attracted to other men. I want to change my sexual preference. I want to become heterosexual." The psychologist responds: "Oh no, absolutely not! That would be unethical. Sexual orientation is an immutable characteristic!"

The irony of this little tale is that, while reading like a joke, it is in reality an accurate description of the mental health professions today. While dismissing and condemning reparative therapy for homosexual orientation, the majority of psychiatrists and psychologists in Anglophone North America have embraced the concept of "sex change," a procedure that does nothing more than mutilate the patient to appease his confused mind.

The American Psychological Association Perpetuates the Madness

In its most recent statement on the topic, the American Psychological Association (APA) has softened its tone somewhat against psychologists who do reorientation therapy for homosexuals. However it maintains that, "Contrary to claims of sexual orientation change advocates and practitioners, there is insufficient evidence to support the use of psychological interventions to change sexual orientation".

The refusal of the organization to accept the increasingly strong evidence against its position is another reminder of how entrenched the sophistry of sexual hedonism has become among the leaders of the organization.

In recent years, a number of studies have been published in peer-reviewed psychology journals, indicating that significant numbers of patients who voluntarily participate in therapy to change their sexual orientation are successful and happy with the results. Combined with numerous individual testimonies by former homosexuals, evidence in favor of the practice is overwhelming.

However, in its new report, "Appropriate Therapeutic Responses to Sexual Orientation," the APA's leadership declares that all of those studies can be dismissed because, in its words, "None of the recent research (1999-2007) meets methodological standards that permit conclusions regarding efficacy or safety."

The report therefore conveniently disposes of the most recent studies on the topic -- the ones that undermine the APA's position. The only studies that remain are ones done before the resurgence of the reparative therapy movement, in the 1970s, when the APA declared that homosexual orientation and sodomy really weren't unhealthy after all. New research is rejected in favor of research that is now over 30 years old, applied to therapeutic practices that may no longer be in use.

However, the authors of Essential Psychotherapy and its Treatment, a standard text in medical schools, disagree with the APA's leadership, and say that the newer studies vindicate sexual reorientation therapy.

The newest edition (2009) notes on page 488 that, "While many mental health care providers and professional associations have expressed considerable skepticism that sexual orientation could be changed with psychotherapy and also assumed that therapeutic attempts at reorientation would produce harm, recent empirical evidence demonstrates that homosexual orientation can indeed be therapeutically changed in motivated clients, and that reorientation therapies do not produce emotional harm when attempted (e.g., Byrd & Nicolosi, 2002; Byrd et al., 2008; Shaeffer et al., 1999; Spitzer, 2003)."

The APA's latest report, done by a task force composed of psychologists with long records of homosexualist activism, also claims as "scientific facts" that "same-sex sexual attractions, behavior, and orientations per se are normal and positive variants of human sexuality-in other words, they are not indicators of mental or developmental disorders" and "no empirical studies or peer-reviewed research supports theories attributing same-sex sexual orientation to family dysfunction or trauma."

These unbelievable statements fly in the face of more than a century of scientific, peer-reviewed studies and clinical observation that indicate that much homosexual behavior originates in deficient family relationships and is associated with a wide range of diseases and pathological behaviors.

Studies have shown that homosexuals disproportionately come from families in which sons or daughters lack a healthy relationship with one or both of their parents, or in situations in which the homosexual was the victim of child sex abuse by a same-sex adult.

Homosexual behavior is also statistically associated with a host of diseases, disorders, and pathological behaviors, including venereal and other diseases, promiscuity and unstable relationships, anxiety disorders, depression and suicide, alcoholism and drug abuse, domestic violence, pederasty, and early death.

Even the homosexual Gay and Lesbian Medical Association admits that homosexuals suffer disproportionate rates of disease and self-destructive behavior. 2938u4ji232938u4ji232938u4ji232938u4ji232938u4ji23

Although the homosexualist leadership at the APA tries to rationalize these relationships by claiming that they are caused by social stigma or other factors, their claims ring hollow. Many stigmitized groups exist in society that display none of the pathological tendencies of homosexuals, and these tendencies appear even in countries that are very tolerant of homosexual behavior, such as the Netherlands.

Homosexualism on the Defensive

The very existence of the report, however, is evidence that the homosexualist establishment currently in power at the APA is on the defensive, and seeking to preserve its ideology of sexual permissiveness as a paradigm in the psychology profession.

After surrendering itself to a hedonistic ethos in the 1970s and 80s, the American psychological practice has been transformed into a vehicle for patients to rationalize and reconcile themselves with self-destructive, irrational, and narcissistic behavior, paying an "expert" to soothe their consciences by assuring them that "science" is on their side.

However, an increasing number of mental health professionals whose institutions were stolen from them by political activists in the 1970s are now rising up to take back their profession in the name of true science, and patient health. :houra:houra:houra:houra:houra

Former APA President Dr. Robert Perloff has publicly endorsed the National Organization for the Research and Treatment of Homosexuality (NARTH), the largest American organization devoted the treatment of unwanted homosexual attractions, and has denounced the APA's campaign against such treatment.

"The ideology of those who oppose efforts to try to facilitate transfers from SSA, that is, Same Sex Attraction, to heterosexual attraction, must not, must not stand in the way of those homosexual persons who desire to live their lives heterosexually, a choice which is unarguably theirs to make," he said in a videotaped statement played at NARTH's 2008 annual meeting.

Dr. Robert Spitzer, who has been been called the "architect" of the American Psychiatric Association's normalization of homosexuality in the 1970s, provoked outrage from the homosexualist establishment when he admitted in 2001 that his own investigations had convinced him that sexual reorientation therapy can work.

His study, published in the peer-reviewed Archives of Mental Health in 2003, found that a majority of his sample of 247 people had developed heterosexual urges or had ceased to be predominantly homosexual after only one year of therapy. None of the subjects said that they had been harmed in the process.

After presenting his paper before the American Psychiatric Association in 2001, Spitzer said: "I'm convinced from people I have interviewed...many of them...have made substantial changes toward becoming heterosexual. I came to this study skeptical. I now claim that these changes can be sustained."

Other prominent figures in psychiatry and psychology have also raised their voices in protest, including Dr. Jeffrey Satinover, a psychiatrist and physicist who has testified before Congress in favor of reparative therapy, and has denounced the hijacking of the mental health professions by homosexualist ideologues in his book, the "Trojan Couch".

"Some of my psychiatric and psychological colleagues have woven for themselves their own set of illusory robes of authority, and for the past 35 years have been proclaiming doctrines in the public square that depend upon the authority that derives from the public's belief that these robes exist," Satinover said in a recent interview .

"The diagnostic change that in 1973 removed homosexuality as a formal disorder from the American Psychiatric Association's Diagnostic and statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM), a change that many now accept as simply indisputable in spite of the fact that it was based wholly on fiction," he added.

"The question isn't just homosexuality, said Satinover, "but rather, freedom from all sexual constraint. This has been an issue for civilization for thousands of years...We now have so little of a moral compass that we're really completely at sea. We're awash in the tide of unconstrained instinctive behaviors which are all being labeled 'okay' because nobody really has a sense, any more, as to what's right and what's wrong."

Whither Psychology?

The debate over reparative therapy for homosexuality runs deeper than the issue itself. It is arguably a debate over the future of the psychological professions as a whole.

Although there are signs that an increasing number of mental health experts are taking an honest look at the facts regarding homosexual behavior and sexual orientation therapy, there are other signs that portend an even darker future for the profession.

In 1998, the APA released a study by three psychological researchers from Temple University, the University of Pennsylvania, and the University of Michigan, claiming that the "negative potential" of adult sex with children was "overstated" and that "the vast majority of both men and women reported no negative sexual effects from their child sexual abuse experiences." It even claimed that large numbers of the victims reported that their experiences were "positive," and suggested that the phrase "child sex abuse" be replaced with "adult-child sex."

The APA not only passed the paper through its peer review process where it was approved by multiple psychologists associated with the organization, but actually published it in one of its journals, Psychological Bulletin.

Moreover, when objections were raised by radio talk show host Dr. Laura Schlessinger and various pro-family groups, the organization defended the article for an entire year. It was also defended by the American Association for the Advancement of Science, which chillingly stated that it "saw no clear evidence of improper application of methodology or other questionable practices on the part of the article's authors."

Although the sheer insanity and destructiveness of the content should have prevented the APA from publishing the article in the first place, the sexual libertines in charge of the organization only issued a muted retraction after the U.S. Congress joined the fray, passing an unprecedented resolution condemning the study.

The publication of the paper was only one example of such lunacy by mental health professionals in peer-reviewed journals. One of the three authors of the study, Robert Bauserman, has a history of publishing pedophilia-advocacy "studies," including one for the now-defunct journal Paidika, The Journal of Paedophilia, whose editors admitted to being pedophiles.

Since the 1998 article, Bauserman and fellow author Bruce Rind have gone on to write more articles defending child sex abuse, which have appeared in such mainstream journals as the Archives of Sexual Behavior (2001) and Clinical Psychology (2003). Apparently, the psychology profession is comfortable with Bauserman and Rind's work, and intends to continue publishing it.

Another apologist for child sex abuse who has received acceptance, affirmation, and recognition from the mental health professions is Dr. Theo Sandfort , who is currently an Associate Professor of Clinical Sociomedical Sciences (in Psychiatry) at Colombia University. Sandfort published a study in 1981 that claimed that boys as young as 10 years old had "positive" experiences in their "sexual relationships" with adults.

While he was co-director of the research program of the Department of Gay and Lesbian Studies at the University of Utrecht, Netherlands, Sandfort interviewed 25 boys from between the ages of 10 and 16 who were in such "sexual relationships" -- that is, they were being sexually abused by adults. In fact, the abusers themselves took Sandfort to their victims so he could interview them. When the victims gave Sandfort their "positive" responses, he duly recorded them.

"For virtually all the boys ... the sexual contact itself was experienced positively," Sandfort wrote, without a hint of irony.

The fact that Sandfort was promoting the sexual abuse of minors with the help of their victimizers didn't seem to faze him. Nor did it faze his then-employers at the University of Utrecht. Nor did it faze the prestigious University of Colombia, which later gave him a professorship, even after he went on to write articles such as "Pedophile relationships in the Netherlands: Alternative Lifestyles for Children?" and books such as "Childhood Sexuality: Normal Sexual Behavior and Development" (2000).

It hasn't fazed the APA either, which has named Sandfort a "fellow" of the organization since 2002.

The defense and even the promotion of mental health experts who defend child sex abuse is a terrifying, but expectable movement down the slippery slope of sexual hedonism embraced by the powers that be at the APA. It not only threatens homosexuals, who are deceived by the seductive argument that their orientation is nothing to worry about, but psychology and psychiatry themselves.

The outcome of the current battle over the science of homosexuality may well determine the future of the mental health professions as a whole. Will they turn back from the brink, or plunge into the abyss? And what will become of the societies that heed their counsel?

</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE><!-- E IIMA --><!-- S SF -->Gay Iraqi men are being murdered in what appears to be a co-ordinated campaign involving militia forces, the group Human Rights Watch says. It says hundreds of gay men have been targeted and killed in Iraq since 2004.
So-called honour killings also account for deaths where families punish their own kin in order to avoid public shame.

The report says members of the Mehdi Army militia group are spearheading the campaign, but police are also accused - even though homosexuality is legal.

<!-- E SF -->Witnesses say vigilante groups break into homes and pick people up in the street, interrogating them to extract the names of other potential victims, before murdering them.
"Murder and torture are no way to enforce morality," said HRW researcher Rasha Moumneh, quoted in the report.
"These killings point to the continuing and lethal failure of Iraq's post-occupation authorities to establish the rule of law and protect their citizens."
In some cases, Human Rights Watch says it was told, Iraqi security forces had actually "colluded and joined in the killing".

Witch-hunt
Recently, posters appeared in Sadr City - a conservative, Shia area of Baghdad - calling on people to watch out for gay men and listing not only their names but also their addresses.
One gay man in Baghdad described the killing campaign as a witch-hunt.
Nearly 90 gay men have been killed in Iraq since the beginning of January and many more are missing, local gay rights campaigners say.

The report, called They want us exterminated: Murder, Torture, Sexual Orientation and Gender in Iraq, says horrifically mutilated bodies of gay men have been left on rubbish tips.
Sometimes their bodies are daubed with offensive terms such as "pervert", or "puppy" which is a hate word for gay men in Iraq.
The report contains detailed testimonies of a range of brutal treatment of gay Iraqi men.
"We've heard stories confirmed by doctors of men having their anuses glued and then being force-fed laxatives which leads to a very painful death," says Ms Moumneh told the BBC.

'Feminised men'
When questioned in the past, officials in Iraq have condemned the killings, but the BBC's Natalia Antelava in Baghdad reports that gay men there say nothing has been done to protect them.
"These killings will continue, because it has simply become normal in Iraq to kill gay men," said a gay Iraqi man who did not want to be named.

Mehdi army spokesmen and clerics have condemned what they call the "feminisation" of Iraqi men and have urged the military to take action against them.

The report said many gay men have fled to other countries in the region, despite consensual homosexual activity being illegal there, because the risk of victimisation is reduced.
HRW says the threats and abuses have spread from Baghdad to Kirkuk, Najaf and Basra, although persecution remains concentrated in the capital.

Officials say part of the problem in dealing with the attacks is that victims' relatives seldom if ever provide information to the police.
"They consider talking about the subject worse than the crime itself. This is the nature of our society," ministry spokesman Major General Abdul-Karim Khalaf said.

Note to Human Resources directors everywhere: unless you're hiring for a porno film, strip club, or brothel, you should never ask for photographs of your employees' naughty bits. It's a faux pas at the very least, more commonly grounds for a hell of a lawsuit, and if it ever makes it to the press, everyone's going to be marvelling at what idiots you are. If someone had said that to Irene Kudziela, branch manager of a Manpower staffing agency office in Philadelphia, she might have saved herself and her company an awful lot of trouble.

Twenty-eight-year-old Kate Lynn Blatt, a transwoman who used to take temp assignments from the agency, is suing Manpower because Kudziela demanded that Blatt provide a letter from her surgeon and a photograph of her genitalia to document her gender reassignment surgery. The letter and photograph, Kudziela claimed, were to clear up any issues about proper use of bathrooms and locker rooms. Blatt refused to comply with the demand and filed a complaint with the Pennsylvania Human Relations Commission. "I was trying to work there in a dignified and private manner, but my dignity and privacy were constantly being violated," Blatt said.

Manpower?perhaps wisely, given their tone-deafness so far?isn't saying anything about the specifics of the case, but did give out some boilerplate reassurances about their commitment to diversity: "The biggest thing to remember is that we?re absolutely committed to the safety and security of our workforce, including the transgender members of our workforce," a spokeswoman said. "We?re committed to having diversity in our workforce."

Homo-rific!

Hallelujah. Let's head to Church--Street that is.

The Church Wellesley Gay Village is world famous for its homo-rific nightlife, inclusive community center and fabulous restaurants. You might also recognize many hot-spots from the television show "Queer as Folk," which was filmed in the area for the five years it aired on Showtime. Legend has it the area was bought way back in the 1820s by a gay merchant named Alexander Wood. LGBT-ers have since made this district into quite a lovely home of which Wood could only be proud.

And Toronto is one of the few cities that has two gay villages. The Gay Village at Church & Wellesley has everything a gay traveler could need or want: bookstores, gay-owned accommodation, queer theater and gay and lesbian bars catering to all flavors and tastes. The Queer West Village is edgier with funky restaurants and a number of queerish mixed bars. Annual events such as pride week at the end of June and Church Street Fetish Fair in August are highlights.

The mathematician, cryptanalyst, and computer scientist Alan Turing is widely credited with helping to win World War II by cracking coded Nazi messages created with the powerful Enigma machine. He was an early contributor to the debate on artificial intelligence and created one of the first self-contained, stored-program computers. An eccentric to be sure, Turing was named by Time Magazine as one of the 100 most important people of the 20th century. The highest honor achievable in computer science is called, in his honor, the Turing Award.

Alan Turing was also gay, which in 1953 led to his prosecution by the British government. Upon his conviction for gross indecency, Turing was stripped of his security clearance, chemically castrated, and publicly disgraced. He committed suicide in 1954 at the age of 41 by eating an apple laced with cyanide.

British computer expert John Graham-Cumming is now spearheading a campaign to have Turing posthumously pardoned by the British government. Although in recent years, Turing's legacy has been officially recognized with memorial statues, awards, and even a knighthood, his conviction for homosexuality (illegal in Great Britain until 1967) represents an unfair stain on the record of a great man. It represents an even greater stain on the history of Great Britain. A petition is being circulated demanding that the Turing be pardoned for his "crime."

Watch a video (SFW) about the campaign after the jump.

Re: Society must choose: The Sodomites or Judeo-Christian Tradition

Joe Contra;
What do you make of what this "vile sodomite"[Alan Turing] did for civilized society,
and how he was treated afterward by the British government.
You mean back when civilized society had standards the overwhelming moral majority took seriously, regardless of personal accolades and accomplishments?

Turing was on Time Magazines list of 100 Most Important People of The 20th Century, look it up at:
http://www.time.com/time/time100/scientist/profile/turing.html
So?

Do you think a posthumous pardon is in order for him?
In recognition of the demons within him?

For the record, I have no problem whatsoever with these deviant lifestyles so long as they remain behind closed doors and don't infect our culture, as I have documented in this thread.

It's the toxic, dishonest militant vile sodomite agenda which is sowing division, becoming a threat to our civil liberties and an affront to the First Amendment.

God will deal with Mr. Turin's sin on his own terms -- though I'm fairly certain the Almighty won't praise him for his invention.

As I have said, it is the responsibility of a humane, moral society to stand up and eradicate these types of deviant lifestyles from our culture, or they will eat away at our liberties and the transcendent moral order.

Love the sinner, hate the sin. :thumbsup

Homosexuals more likely to seek psychological help

Charlie Butts - OneNewsNow - 8/20/2009 6:00:00 AM

<storylead> A new study shows that homosexuals and lesbians seek mental health counseling far more than heterosexuals.</storylead>

<storybody>The UCLA School of Public Health found that to be true in California, but there have been other studies with similar results. Peter LaBarbera of Americans for Truth About Homosexuality says homosexuals usually respond that they would not have so many problems if society would simply accept their behavior as normal.

"You can't just keep going back to homophobia and societal stigma to account for this huge difference between straights and homosexuals with regard to various pathologies," he contends. "First of all, we're talking about California, where there's a much greater tolerance for homosexuality -- so you can't keep pointing to the stigma."

LaBarbera says homosexuals should accept responsibility for their behavior and not point an accusing finger at others. He believes God has set up behavioral boundaries beyond which are consequences. LaBarbera points to Christ as the answer.

"That's, I think, the message here. There will never be happiness and contentedness...there will never be normality associated with homosexuality. It's an aberrant, sinful lifestyle," he notes. "It's destructive. But the good news is it's changeable and people can leave this lifestyle."

However, he adds that the media gives scant attention to that idea.</storybody>

Fred Jackson - News Director

From time to time, you may have seen labels that say "Product of Canada." It happens to suit me also. I was born and raised on a farm on the east coast... and did the things that most Canadian boys do while growing up.... including, of course, playing hockey and falling through the ice while playing hockey. After graduating from high school, I followed a lot of different paths. Four years at university gave me a degree in Biology and Chemistry. Then a stint in the Canadian Armed Forces taught me how to fly airplanes. After that, came my journalism career. In between all of this, the Lord led me to Baptist Bible college in Springfield, Missouri for a year of study. He also had other plans. I met my wife, Susy there. We?ve been married since 1980 and have two lovely daughters.

After nearly 20-years in broadcasting in Canada, God once again stirred my heart about taking what I had learned in secular news operations and applying it to Christian broadcasting. A meeting with Dr. Don Wildmon at American Family Radio in October 1996 led me to my present position... News Director at AFN. God has been so good to me in so many ways over the years. I praise him for giving me the privilege to serve him.

Among my favorite Bible verses are Proverbs 3:5 and 6.

Superman and Jesus:
The Next Hot Gay Couple?
<LABEL class=views-label-name-1>by :Chris Hall</LABEL>

From:

In this day and age, a simple picture of two nice Jewish boys in a passionate embrace shouldn't cause that much of a furor. After all, most Americans have better things to worry about. Right? Maybe not, when the young men in question happen to be Jesus of Nazareth and Kal-El, the Last Son of Krypton, aka Superman. (If you have any doubt that Supes is Of the Tribe, just remember that -El is the Hebrew suffix meaning "God" or "of God.")

The picture to the right is from Younger Than Jesus, a catalog that accompanies the New Museum's triennial show exhibiting the work of 25 international artists under the age of 33, supposedly the age when Jesus decided to give up carpentry for the preaching gig that eventually got him nailed to a cross. The catalog goes beyond the scope of the exhibit, displaying work from 500 artists from around the world.

Granted, there hasn't been any trouble yet, but if you know comics, you can't help but wait for the other shoe to drop looking at that picture. Next to the wrath of the legal department of DC Comics upon seeing their own Lord and Savior defiled, the antics of Bill Donohue, the Catholic League, and the American Family Association amount to nothing more than a bunch of obnoxious kids yelling in the street.

As comics blog Bleeding Cool notes,DC has gone after this sort of thing before with an awfully big legal stick, most notably in the case of an exhibit of paintings by Mark Chamberlain which showed Batman and Robin in explicit homoerotic poses. (NSFW) DC not only tried to get the pictures taken down, but demanded the gallery turn over all unsold art and the invoices for those pieces that had been sold. Happily, free expression triumphed in that case, but not easily.

Maybe DC has mellowed out a little bit, especially since the heirs of Superman co-creator Jerry Siegel won a court case last year giving them the rights to a large chunk of the character, but we don't want to lay any bets. Good luck to the artist, who's made a work that both elevates and humanizes two of our most important cultural icons, even if many will inexplicably see it as demeaning and disrespectful.

For the first time since its 1967 premiere, the ?Newlywed Game? will feature a gay couple: George Takei of ?Star Trek? and his husband of one year (and partner for 22) Brad Altman.
Why it has taken the show so long to get with the times is anybody?s guess. GSN, the network that now airs the show, won?t speculate because it?s been in charge for only two years?a lifetime in television.
The Associated Press reports that the show?s host, Carnie Wilson (yes, that Carnie Wilson), says she wants to do an all-gay episode. ?PS

A date with Barbie is the last thing on this Ken doll's mind!
Meet the "Palm Beach Sugar Daddy Ken" -- the latest version of Mattel's iconic Barbie boyfriend, infused with a huge helping of Florida fabulousness.

From his green print jacket to his pink shirt to his little white dog on a rosy-colored leash, this Ken looks ready to give Barbie a run for her money as the doll word's fashionista.
And get a load of those white slacks!

"He exemplifies fantastic Palm Beach fashion," a company spokeswoman said.
It might not be something that a lot of parents would want their daughters -- or sons -- to get their hands on.

But don't worry: Mattel said it's targeting the action figure at grown-ups.
"The 'Palm Beach Sugar Daddy Ken' is actually part of the adult Barbie Collector Line," the spokeswoman said. "It is targeted toward adults."

And before anyone thinks the "Sugar Daddy" title refers to an older man with a younger lover, Mattel says that there's a much more innocent explanation.
"The little dog's name is actually Sugar," said the Mattel spokeswoman. "That's where the name comes from. He's Sugar's daddy, as a reference to the dog."

The "Sugar Daddy" Ken was created thanks to popular demand from Mattel's Barbie adult enthusiasts, who wanted a Ken doll that could hold his own as part of the already popular Barbie Fashion Model Collection, the spokeswoman said.

Five Signs of a Successful
One-Night Stand

In celebration of my first successful one-night stand with a woman (yes, I will admit to have had one or two with guys, back when I was still doing that male thing) I thought I'd try to compile a list of criteria for what makes a one-night stand successful. This is the result:

It's someone you don't know.
Sure, this might be a debatable point, but if I were to go home with a friend I've known for a while and have sex with her... I'm not sure what I would define it as, but it wouldn't quite be a one-night stand. In this case it was a complete stranger I met at the girl club (of course we were quickly able to establish which friends we had in common - our world is, after all, so very small), made out with one the dance floor and promptly brought home.

There is actual sex involved.
This would seem quite obvious, if it weren't for encounters such as the one I had with Sleep Over Girl back in May of last year (the words "I'm not going to have sex with you tonight" still ring in my head from time to time). This encounter was hassle free. Sure, there was that moment of walking home together, talking about this and that. And then going into my apartment, and then into the bedroom, making small talk while both wonder "Okay, so how are we gonna do this then?". But once we got the kissing going there was no stopping us.

There is no crying or speaking of old relationships.
Staying on the topic of Sleep Over Girl for a while... She (and Ex-Gaybor) had me worried that my bed was cursed for quite a while there, what with all the processing that was going on in it. Thankfully that curse seems to have been lifted.

There is no discussion of "where this is going".
Now that is really fucking scary when you bring someone home with you expecting some sex with no strings attached and they start talking about how soon they can see you again or hinting towards that they're looking for more than just sex. That's where you have a me-shaped hole in the wall from where I ran out of the room screaming.

You don't call each other afterward.
We did actually exchange phone numbers, me and this girl, let's call her Miss One-Night. But we did it in an extremely casual "maybe-we'll-bump-into-each-other-some-day" kind of way with no promise or even mention of us calling one another. It's been two weeks since our encounter and I'm thrilled that I haven't heard from her! When you do call each other... Well, that's something that might have started as a one-night stand but will quickly develop into something else.

So there you have it. A successful one-night stand, as defined by an Anonymous Lesbian. And here's to hoping there's many more in the future! Yes, I'm aiming for total slut status.

4625,
The "Five Signs of a Successful One-Night Stand" lesbian style would be the same for "normal" heterosexual males,or females too;
the difference is in the performance of the act,but these are variations on a theme.
Society doesn't need to choose,au contraire, human sexuality is not limited to the missionary positon.
Thanks for your approval...

Are there asexuals among us?
On the possibility of
a "fourth" sexual orientation

By Jesse Bering
Excerpts from:
http://www.scientificamerican.com/blog/post.cfm?id=are-there-asexuals-among-us-on-the-2009-10-29

Gay people are often asked by the curious: When did you first realize you were gay?? In my case, I remember undressing my Superman doll--and being terribly disappointed at the result--as well as being motivated to befriend the more attractive boys in third grade. But hormonally speaking, it wasn?t until I was about fourteen that I first looked in the mirror and thought to myself, ah, that?s what I am all right, it all makes perfect sense now.

It wasn?t much of a mystery. After all, lust isn?t exactly a subtle thing. Back then I derived as much pleasure from making out with my ?girlfriend? as I might have from scraping the plaque from my dog?s teeth. In contrast, barely touching legs with a boy I had a crush on sparked an electric, ineffable ecstasy. In the locker room after high school gym class, I forced myself to picture naked girls in my head (particularly my girlfriend) as a sort of cognitive cold shower, a pre-emptive strike against an otherwise embarrassing physical response. I could go on but you get the idea: whether or not we like, hide or accept what we are, our true identities--gay, straight, bisexual--consciously dawn on each of us at some point in adolescence. We all have a natural ?orientation? towards sexual contact with others, and for the most part we?re just hopeless pawns, impotent onlookers, to our body?s desires.

At least, that?s what most people tend to think. But actually, some scientists believe that there may be a fourth sexual orientation in our species, one characterized by the absence of desire and no sexual interest in males or females, only a complete and lifelong lacuna of sexual attraction toward any human being (or non-human being). Such people are regarded as asexuals. Unlike bisexuals, who are attracted to both males and females, asexuals are equally indifferent to and uninterested in having sex with either gender. So imagine being a teenager waiting for your sexual identity to express itself, waiting patiently for some intoxicating bolus of lasciviousness to render you as dumbly carnal as your peers, and it just doesn?t happen. These individuals aren?t simply celibate, which is a lifestyle choice. Rather, sex to them is just so ... boring.

In one recent interview study published in a 2007 issue of the Archives of Sexual Behavior, a group of self-described asexuals was asked how they came to be aware they were different. One woman responded:
I would say I?ve never had a dream or a fantasy, a sexual fantasy, for example, about being with another woman. So I can pretty much say that I have no lesbian sort of tendencies whatsoever. You would think that by my age I would have some fantasy or dream or something, wouldn?t you? ... But I?ve never had a dream or a sexual fantasy about having sex with a man, either. That I can ever, ever remember.
In another interview study, this one by University of
Michigan researcher Kristin Scherrer,an 18-year-old woman
put it this way:
I just don?t feel sexual attraction to people. I love the human form and can regard individuals as works of art and find people aesthetically pleasing, but I don?t ever want to come into sexual contact with even the most beautiful of people.
According to Brock University psychologist Anthony Bogaert, there may be more genuine asexuals out there than we realize. In 2004 Bogaert analyzed survey data from more than 18,000 British residents and found that the number of people (185, or about 1 percent) in this population who described themselves as ?never having a sexual attraction to anymore? was just slightly lower than those who identified as being attracted to the same sex (3 percent). Since this discovery, a handful of academic researchers have been trying to determine whether asexuality is a true biological phenomenon or, alternatively, a slippery social label that for various reasons some people may prefer to adopt and embrace.

Asexuality would therefore be like other sexual orientations in the sense that it is not ?acquired? or ?situational,? but rather an essential part of one?s biological makeup. Just like a straight man or a lesbian can?t wake up one day and decide to become attracted to men, neither could a person--in principle, anyway--?become? asexual.

For gay and straight men,
facial attraction operates similarly
Published: Friday, October 30, 2009
From:
http://esciencenews.com/articles/20...ight.men.facial.attraction.operates.similarly

A new study from a researcher at Harvard University finds that gay men are most attracted to the most masculine-faced men, while straight men prefer the most feminine-faced women. The findings suggest that regardless of sexual orientation, men's brains are wired for attraction to sexually dimorphic faces?those with facial features that are most synonymous with their gender.

The research is currently published online in the journal Archives of Sexual Behavior, and was led by Aaron Glassenberg, while completing his master's degree in the Department of Psychology at Harvard.Glassenberg's co-authors are David Feinberg of McMaster University, Benedict Jones and Lisa DeBruine of Aberdeen University, and Anthony Little of Stirling University.

"Our work showed that gay men found highly masculine male faces to be significantly more attractive than feminine male faces. Also, the types of male faces that gay men found attractive generally did not mirror the types of faces that straight women found attractive on average," says Glassenberg. "Men, gay or straight, prefer high sexual dimorphism in the faces of the sex that they are attracted to. Gay men and straight men did not agree on the types of male faces they considered attractive."

The study is the first to examine the facial feature preferences of gay men and lesbian women. Women's preferences are more complex than men's, as indicated by prior research demonstrating that ovulation, contraceptive use, self-perceived attractiveness, and sex drive all affect face preference. In this particular study, straight women preferred more masculine-faced men than lesbian women, while lesbians preferred slightly more masculine female faces than straight women or men.

Participants viewed images of faces that were digitally manipulated to be more masculine or feminine, and then indicated which face they considered more attractive. The study was conducted online, and included over 900 men and women.
Sexually dimorphic features in male faces include a broad jaw, broad forehead, and more pronounced brow ridge. A sexually dimorphic female face has a more tapered chin, larger lips, and a narrower forehead.

Prior research has also shown that women prefer more masculine male faces when ovulating, indicating an evolutionary function for facial attraction. Men who have faces that are higher in sexual dimorphism (masculinity) have been shown to have better health and dominance but lower investment in offspring.

Although it is difficult to make substantial evolutionary claims from this study, Glassenberg's work supports the idea that male attraction operates differently from female attraction, regardless of sexual orientation.

Counterfeit Marriage Rejected in Maine

Press Release from Matt Barber at Liberty Counsel:

Lynchburg, VA ? Matt Barber, Director of Cultural Affairs with both Liberty Counsel and Liberty Alliance Action, issued the following statement on news that the voters of Maine have rejected counterfeit ?same-sex marriage? by 53% - 47%:

?There?s good news and bad news here,? said Barber. ?The good news is that even in one of the most liberal States in the Union, Maine, the people have once again rejected the ridiculous and oxymoronic notion of ?same sex marriage.? The momentum has again shifted ? hopefully for good this time ? in favor of protecting legitimate marriage. A counterfeit is a counterfeit. An orange is an orange no matter how much you want it to be a turnip. This isn?t about ?marriage.? It?s about hurting and broken people desperately seeking affirmation of an objectively deviant lifestyle. One that, even in their heart of hearts, they know to be a dead end. As for the militant ?No on 1? homosexual activists? I?m reminded of spoiled children dressing up and playing house, refusing to come in when mom calls for dinner.

?Here?s the bad news. The margin of victory could have been greater. Many behind the ?Yes on 1? campaign, rather than simply telling the truth, chose the Neville Chamberlain approach. They merely circled the wagons around the word ?marriage,? even suggesting that ?domestic partnerships? (?gay marriages? by another name) are acceptable. This makes no sense. If that?s a viable compromise, then why not simply allow 'gay' duos the word ?marriage?? It?s an incongruity that demands an explanation. This is an historic battle for the minds and souls of our children ? for our very culture. The mealy-mouthed approach must end. This is not just about ?marriage.? It has everything to do with forced affirmation of homosexuality ? under penalty of law. Indeed everyone who fought hard to defend marriage in Maine is to be congratulated, but if it weren?t for a brave group of truth tellers - Paul Madore, Peter LaBarbera and Brian Camenker [of MassResistance] ? who came to Maine in the final hour to hold a press conference and address the pink elephant in the room ? homosexual deviancy and the radical ?gay? agenda ? counterfeit marriage might have prevailed.?

Oh no! Now gay couples residing in Maine might have to relocate to one of the U.S. states which legally marries same-sex couples.

Or better yet, they can head up to Joey's hometown of Toronto and get hitched.
