-365/-265 is pretty much the same as -200/-155 & -140/-110 all are a tad less than 6% off market numbers. The line was off market, but probably not because of an error but because of a move throughout the market without adjustment.

The bad press you receive for canceling a bet that is 6% off market is clearly not worth it IMO.

Having run a real sportsbook for some time I do understand that data entry errors happen from time to time. I also understand that lines managers are capable of falling asleep on numbers and many players will come out of the woodwork to bet these.

A few examples I can tell you are I had a manager move an NCAA game the wrong way from -7 down to -3 on max bets when it was going up the other way to -11 everywhere else.

I also had a clerk enter an incorrect time on a football game and as people started coming in during the second quarter to bet the game the time change was alerted.

I ran a large Derby future pool and another sleeping manager let several 100/1 bets get in on a horse that should have been no better than 15/1 at that point.

Let me tell you how I handled those three situations:

First, I allowed all bets to stand, even bought the guys a couple drinks and had a laugh with them, and the next day disciplined my manager and demoted him to clerk.

The second one, I decided to let the bets stand and when the players were going to cash them would offer them the option of honoring the wager and barring them or letting them continue to play and cancel the wager. (This did not happen as those players ended up losing the bet despite being up 28 points on the spread at halftime).

The third time I simply adjusted the odds to what they were correctly. Printed out a sheet and guidelines for my managers to either adjust horse odds or turn off the pool since they were not well trained in this. We had a negative pool of around 450k on the horse who sadly broke his leg and was retired two months before the Derby.

What my point is is that there are going to be mistakes made whenever the human element enters into play. As a bookmaker it is important to A) limit those mistakes by competently training your staff, B) making sure they are alert to red flags in order to limit possible losses (in department store speak this is known as inventory control), C) when you do get caught with your pants down act calm and professional because while you may not worry about losing a shot taker or two as a client, if you stand at the counter and yell at him, fifty people behind him will hear and witness this and they will tell fifty friends and so on.

It seems that you feel short on all three accounts here and judging by your failure to grasp the scope of the problem (blaming the clerk (A) for a data error and threatening to fire him/her instead of having managers alert (B) and seeing early warning signs) and instead launching a tirade visible to the entire posting body (C) speaks volumes as to the lack of professionalism demonstrating by your outfit.

I had a prominent poster alert me to the time my manager was moving the line the wrong way. After investigating it and finding out what happened I came back to him and said "Yeah we fucked up, I guess we'll just get it back tomorrow". I strongly urge you to reconsider your stance and do the same.

I think his point is that BFC is in that 98-99th percentile as far as vig is concerned.
