I think if you're the Pirates you have to shut Skenes down or save him for home games only. Last 4 starts only 24 K's. Velocity is down, walk rate up. I d hate to see the Strasburgh effect.

Pirates are done...

As someone holding a Merrill ROY future, I whole heartedly agree

Jackson Merrill with a walk off HR to beat the Mets, he now has 19 HR's, 5 of them have come in the 8th inning or later to either tie or give his team the lead, hopefully the voters will take his clutch hitting into account when voting

Neris is trash. The Cubs knew it and released him. Very lucky tonight as one rocket became an out thanks to the increased dimensions at Camden Yards, then Dubon robs extra bases making a great catch while crashing into the wall. Neris will cost the Astros in the post season. Mark my words.

Cubs 8 & 9th place hitters today vs the Pirates in a game Skenes started:

9 at bats
7 runs
7 hits
8 rbis

The players: Christian Betancourt and Pete Crow Armstrong.

Kane, I think your Merrill RoY bet is looking better every day.

Assuming the Pirates keep Skenes in the rotation the rest of the season, he'll end up appearing in 24 games, I have a hard time giving an award to a player who's played in that few games, meanwhile Merrill keeps playing well, he's been one of the beat CF's in MLB since the start of the season, just need him to finish strong

Thirty years ago the Phillies scored 9 runs in the top of the ninth inning to beat the Dodgers 12-11…why do I remember this??

Because I was grading tickets at night for CRIS and it was the last game of the night…I wanted to go home so I started to grade the game in the 7th inning…long story short, I had to regrade all the tickets again…learned a lesson back then…

No one here will care except for Marlins fans, so that's pretty much just me, but Jeff Conine is maybe the most popular Marlins player ever, he's so beloved down here his nickname is "Mr. Marlin", anyway the other day they called up his son Griffin from the minors to make his MLB debut, in his first game he barely missed a HR, the ball hit off the wall and he ended up with a triple, a pretty cool moment, he should get some AB's to close out the season, hoping he does well

I remember that game, couldn't believe what I was watching, I remember Lasorda tossing aside a coffee mug during the inning in a moment of anger

Brent Rooker of the A's might be the best player nobody knows about. 3 weeks left in the season and he already has 30 HRs. Batting .300 so not just a softball type hitter. The A's are actually 5th in WRC+ since the All Star break:

Verlander has had a great career but it might be nearing the end. 3 innings and 8 earned runs tonight. He gave up a grand slam and 3 run HR to Pavin Smith. Smith came into tonight with 4 HRs and 18 RBIs. Tonight alone he has 3 HRs and 8 rbis. But as for Verlander, he wasn't fooling anyone. Father time catches up with everyone eventually.

I Played the Cubs +145, an angle I've had good success with is fading a pitcher coming off a long layoff due to injury, Yamamoto is making his first start after being out for 3 months, Imanaga is on the mound for Chicago and coming off his best start of the season, pitching 7 no hit innings against the Pirates, not sure who this game is more important to, LA, Chicago, or Japan, but I have to think Imanaga will have a little more adrenaline flowing due to the pitching matchup, the Cubs have been struggling offensively of late, but put up 10 last night, hopefully they can carry that over to tonight's game
