Yep, I remember Doug Flutie always wanted to do one in the NFL. Almost 20 years ago, he got the chance with the Pats, successfully drop kicking a XP.

In the famous Christmas Day AFC Championship game in 1971, Kansas City made a fair catch near the end the game vs Dolphins. There was a long discussion between Hank Stram and the officials, and the announcers were baffled and didn’t know what the discussion was about. I was yelling at the screen “go for the free kick!“. But for some stupid reason, probably not wanting to risk a run back, he did not try it, even though their kicker Jan Stenerud had a strong leg and probably was within his range, especially on a free kick.
The announcers never did figure it out.
The Chiefs went on to lose that game. Dolphins made the Super Bowl instead.

I remember that, it was against the Dolphins, after the game Jason Taylor was asked if he ever saw that, he said it was the first time and joked he was hoping the kick wasn't worth more than 1 point
Agree 100%. Must see TV. The Falcons took a lot of heat for the pick but it was due to them signing Cousins and Penix's injury history; not Penix's ability. His upside could be as high as any of the top 3 QBs taken in the draft.
From a props perspective, is it possible Falcon receiving props are artificially low because they were deflated due to an injured Cousins?

I'm not much of a player prop guy, rarely play them, but I found one I like Sunday, I played Bijan Robinson Over 83.5 rushing yards. For the season he's averaging 17 carries per game, but the last four games he's averaged 23 carries, so his workload has increased, he's also played in every game this year so I'm not concerned about his durability, not that he can't turn an ankle, but so far he's been healthy, with Penix making his second career start, and first road start, I expect the Falcons to run it more to take some pressure off him, the Commanders give up 137 rush yards per game, which ranks 30th in the league, and there's supposed to be wind, 15-20 MPH with gusts 30-40, which should lead to more running and less throwing, adding it all up this looks like it's setting up for a big game out of Robinson

The line dropped from 6.5 to 4.5, and the total plummeted as well, couldn't understand why, Tua was on the injury report but by all accounts was expected to play, and now it just came across the screen he's doubtful, the sharps got the info early it seems

I think he made the right decision, a win or tie would have gotten them in, if the tie wasn't a factor I would agree with you, but knowing a tie was the same as a win, I think he did the right thing, and the game almost ended in tie, knowing a tie gets them in, it changed the strategy at the end

I would have to think that if one was to get cut to keep DTR on a roster, it would be an incredible insult. I'm not sure DTR would be average in the CFL. I'm sure Huntley has plenty of motivation.

Painful to watch how scared both the Lions and Vikings are playing. Lions have the most explosive offense the league has (arguably) ever seen. The Vikings defense has been bend don't break all year, and playing way above who they truly are, yet Lions look completely lost.
Vikings, against the leagues mpst pathetic defence, look like they've never seen such a unit.
Games matter next week. Vikings on the road could very easily be a comical disaster for a 14-3 team. Lions offense will give them one playoff win, but thats it?
