NFL draft talk: Sanders now favored to go #9

Why would a team drafting in the fifth round move up?
I dont know why but the idea that the browns view themselves as somehow in the same league as philly is comical. They're not even in the same conference.

That's like some old drunk at the VFW hiding his fat wife because he heard Brad Pitt is in town.

There were rumors that the Browns traded up above the Eagles because Philly had interest in Sanders….will always wonder what Howie Roseman had in mind
It's certainly possible they might have traded up to take the kid, why not take a flyer in the fifth round, they also drafted a QB in the sixth round, so what you post is logical

Some people are saying that the NFL ordered the browns to pick him to end the circus, supposedly the cleveland GM looked very unhappy after selecting him.

And why would the NFL order the Browns to take him, why would the league single them out? And what would have happened to the Browns if they ignored the league's orders and didn't take him? You really need to stop believing everything you read on the internet. The Browns took him because it was the fifth round, it's not like they passed on some elite talent, why not take a flyer on the kid late in the draft

I'm trying to understand Cleveland's reasoning. Flacco is going to be the only holdover. Either Gabriel or Sanders will get most of the practice reps. You can't develop both.

All I know is the browns are loaded at QB now, toss watson out and they're still stacked to the gills with talent.

The truth is they can finish last with sanders and without him.

Maybe after mini camp and preseason they decide which one they think they can develop and cut the other one. No one understood why the then Redskins drafted Kirk Cousins after drafting RG3 either

Between Pickett and the two kids they just drafted, I'm sure the thinking is hope that one of them develops into a viable NFL QB

Watson, Flacco, Pickett, Gabriel, Sanders. Hardly what I would call "stacked to the gills with talent"
I was funning sir, obviously picket is a journeyman/backup, flacco is a over the hill guy who can play QB without embarrassment, the other 2 we'll find out.

other than getting through, not much accomplished. Shedeur right away noticed the number wasn't legit ...

Getting through WAS the main accomplishment. The # was legit though, Sanders didn't know (He said no one has that # but the coaches, strictly for that reason) I heard one of the daughters of a coach in the Giants organization got a hold of it. The best was his friend telling him that he got trolled and now they tripping! CLASSIC

Why not? How often does a consensus late 1st rounder, at the most important position, fall to the 5th round? If Sanders can't play at the NFL level, then they wasted a 5th round pick. If he can, then he's the steal of the draft. From a risk/reward standpoint, definitely makes sense. A year from now I don't think anyone will say the Browns could've drafted a nose tackle from Ball State and instead took Sanders.

I thought some team was gunna trade up in the 2nd round to get Will Johnson. At that point, you are getting a top 10 talent in the middle 2nd round. No one traded up.

fair game to knock his character; again stats and talent indicate either QB1 or QB2 as all the experts predicted. no football has been played since the ratings came out.

I'm not a draft guy, don't watch it, look for recaps the following days.

That said I've heard them say they don't evaluate QB's during the games, all that is done AFTER the season is played.

That's when GM's and other professional scouts roll the tape and start seriously evaluating QB's.

What you hear during the season is largely talking heads from the media throwing out their shallow and often agenda based opinions.

I keep hearing a vast exaggeration of his talents. He's not fast, strong, big or has a great arm by NFL standards. He's none of those things.

I mean the guy went to Jackson State, not like he was a hugely recruited 5-star talent out of HS.

Mediocre talent with a piss poor attitude, 5th round is probably a reach but understandable.

You have to wonder why Mel Kiper was so deranged about the draft and sanders. It's almost like he had a financial interest in it?

I don't know about a financial interest and while he knows more than you or I he's basically a fuck boy for the professionals.

Not sure he gets greased on the side but surely he's manipulated by teams with certain agendas......

We got the 3rd pick and want XXXX, let's "leak" to Mel how great the other guys around him are and how interested we are in them.

I'd bet there's a lot of that kind of stuff that goes on, lot of smoke signals to hide their own thoughts and popularize other diversions.

Also it is Disney, you have to be careful when critiquing black QB's, still a sore spot for some.

I had this thought as well.

He was way way too focused on sanders and got emotional about how he was falling.

Jaxson dart got drafted and kiper spent 4 minutes on sanders.

I have no doubt that sanders agency team slid kiper an envelope to pump up this kid since his camp failed so bad at his post season workouts and meetings with teams.

Sad that the browns got it. No strong presense in that qb room.
Pickett sucks. Flacoo too old. Gabriel a rookie too.
If sanders went to a strong qb room he might have had a chance to change.

Phil kc chargers detroit pittsburgh are a few teams with a hc who would not put up with bs that could get him going in the right direction.

Remember this.
Sanders has only played for his dad as hc. He isnt ready to be the low man on the totem pole like he will be now in cleveland

IMO there's more than a fair chance Kiper was bribed by someone to pump sanders up - not just during the draft but for months if not a yr or more.

The way kiper was getting more an more agitated was bizarre, it was actual anger and frustration, as if the final payments depend on Shedeur's draft results.

The potential money from a 1st rounder to a 5th rounder is in the multiple millions

Making a payment of 200k to a puppet should have been a nice investment

I wonder if anyone is going to ask sanders if he would do it again if he would have went through the workouts now

Naturally his family and bad interviews played a role but the more I think about it, shrewd move by Browns in the 5th. If he pans out they're geniuses, drafting him in the early rounds then having to cut him they'd be lambasted.

Nice draft by the Browns- Graham to pair with Garrett. A very good linebacker and a RB to replace the oft injured Chubb. They got huge value with Sanders, and don't forget, Jacksonville's #1 pick next year which could be a top 10.
