i stayed at red rock last time I was out there for 8 days and it was only $107 to rent a full size from alamo for 8 days. Hard to beat that.

What time of year was that rate? I usually go to Reno in March but the wife is up for Vegas, so who am I to argue?
I will be comparison shopping MLB win totals. Looks like a lot of value has already been sucked out of Orioles and Royals unders. Wish I was there for the openers.

Ah wait yeah now I remember. I got some family in Phoenix and stopped by and saw them afterwards. The discount was because I was taking a car from Vegas and dropping it off in Phoenix for spring training demand.
The Las Vegas to Las Vegas stay was a little bit more expensive. Still cheap though compared to a week of ubers.

But here's one reason I prefer the Strip properties over some of the local sports books: There's money in the crowd and optimism in the air unlike the local joints where guys are scrambling for dollars and negativity rules the day.

I found Nevada Landing's demolition baffling.
The backstory was, that area was supposedly in line to become an international airport, to ease McCarron congestion. Connected to Vegas by hi-speed rail. Height of the housing boom, all kinds of optimism. Airport never had >50% chance of actually happening, but owners wanted to have this very large development there.
There was massive amounts of undeveloped land in that area. What baffled me was: why tear down Nevada Landing?!? Just build on the 99.99% rest of the area that was completely undeveloped! NL was relatively new, still nice. Made no sense to me.
Well, after NL demolition, the housing market collapsed, Jean International Airport never came close to materializing, and a perfectly fine casino with exploitable games (& personnel that really didn't like me) was destroyed for no logical reason afaik.

shit yeah I spent some time at Ellis Island... it's a cool place, but it was a busy night and most of the crowd had seen better days.

It was Binions. When I first started going to Vegas in the 80's, I always made it a point to hit Binions late night special. If memory serves they continued that into the early 2000's but there may have been a slight increase in price. You could eat like a champ on the cheap before the corporate world took over Vegas.

I'm out there 3-17...rates were all in high 300s or 400s then the 185 popped up...with all of the nickle and diming. and now room security checks Vegas is becoming a PITA

I would never rent a car on my Vegas trip. Stay at the mirage, walk to flamingo or linq or Bellagio or caesers or Paris if I wanna leave the hotel.

I would rather drive too. Vegas line shopping with 2 people owning a car would be cheapest if not including buying the car/insurance/ reg/ gas / repairs.
rent in vegas line shopping need 2 people again to avoid parking fees
uber/lyft... cheapest if only going to one place short distance.
it all comes down to what the need is for.
long distance is a total loser for lyft / uber ... expensive. .....renting is better with long distance....always rent with bumper to bumper insurance at rental place. Not worth the chance w/o. Could always use own insurance with it too.

Mom and Dad wanted to come out next weekend - 1st weekend of the NCAA Tourney. They could not get a room. Sold Out near the Red Rock - where they stay. They have to go the next weekend
As for cars - I have the Entertainment Book and mostly because of the great deals on cars. My older niece drove out to Vegas last weekend. Picked up a car at John Wayne for 3 days for $40 out the door.
