Some classics last night. 2 OT games. Ovechkin still getting it done. The Kings almost blew a 4 goal lead and win it near the buzzer.
I wonder how healthy he is, of course the Panthers have been tight lipped, but if he plays it wasn't decided until just recently, it's the playoffs, and Tkachuk is as tough as they come so it's no surprise he's in, but I don't know how healthy he is, and you know the Lightning will try their best to be physical with him

He broke his sternum in game 3 of the 2023 finals against Vegas, it hurt so bad he needed help just to get dressed, he played in game 4 and actually scored a goal, hockey players just built different

Tkachuk looked great, no issues with the long layoff, and he was throwing his body around all game. As far as the game itself, sometimes things happen in sports that are hard to explain, since the 4 Nations Cup the Panthers were the league's lowest scoring team, they had scored 3 or fewer goals in 17 of their last 18 games, so they're on the road against arguably the best goal tender in the world, and they score 6 times on only 16 shots, which was their lowest shot total of the season. Had you told me before the game they would only get 16 shots on goal, I would have thought there's a better chance they get shut out than win the game
This was the best game of these young playoffs. I don't have a nickel on them, but I admit I'm rooting for the Oilers. They lose this one and they are as good as toast being down 3-1 and headed back to LA for 2 of the next 3 to close this out. Down 3-1 entering the 3rd, they scratch their way all the way back and win in OT. Kings still hold the home-ice advantage but we get at least 2 more games from these 2. 2 costly mistakes by the Kings. Byfield's lazy attempt to clear the zone late in regulation allows Edm to tie it and Gavrikov trips McDavid in OT and is the difference maker. But justified. You can't give that team a PP in OT. It will cost you and it did tonight. I wish they all were this exciting.

As soon as he didn't get the clear, I knew it wasn't going to end well, I have no idea how he didn't clear the zone. As far as the trip, the announcer said he was on the ice for a long time, tired players tend to commit penalties, the Kings got away with a slash earlier in the OT, so not surprised the ref called it, the way the Oliers were peppering the net I knew it as over at that point. Kuemper was unbelievable, Edm could easily have scored 6 or 7 if not for Kuemper's brilliance

Hagel took a 1 game suspension for almost the exact same hit.
The difference between the two hits was Barkov didn't play the puck which made the hit illegal, the guy Tkachuk hit did play the puck, that makes the hit legal. And that's not me saying it, the truth is I wouldn't know the difference, there were a couple of talking heads that said Barkov not touching the puck and the Lightning guy touching the puck is why one hit was legal and the other wasn't
Seems to me like Florida is deeper in talent up and down the lineups but i'd say the real story so far has been Florida's ability to keep Kucherov off the scoresheet. He's got just 5 sog in the 4 games this round and 4 assists. 3 in their lone win and another in the opener. No goals. They will be hard pressed to win if that continues.
I'm close to clueless on pucks as well, two guys living in 100 degree weather and it probably makes sense why we aren't pro's, LOL.
I thought they said even though the guy had played the puck it was long gone when he was hit which made it illegal.
Could have misunderstood it, never played the game but they did give him a 5 minute major, it had to have been illegal, right?
I like Tkachuk, always have, just wished he played for Tampa.
He's one of those guys you love if he's with you, not so much if he's on the other side.

Frankly Florida has outplayed them from start to finish other than that G3 stuff.
First 2 games it looked like Tampa could play 6 on 4 the entire game and not score.
For sure Kucherov hasn't played well but not just him, what about the power play??

My brother is really good in hockey. He is a big Carolina fan going to the game tonight. He likes Vegas to win it all. Liked these series: Car over NJ, Vegas over Minn, Kings over Edmonton, Toronto over Ott, and Stl over Winnipeg.
I didn't post what I meant correctly, yes both hits were illegal and drew a penalty, but to clarify, the reason why the Tampa player got suspended for the hit on Barkov was Barkov never played the puck, the reason Tkachuk didn't get suspended was the Tampa player did play the puck, that was the difference

The Kings dominated the first 2 and a half games of the series, then the Oilers flipped a switched, the change in goal from Skinner to Pickard gave them a spark even though Pickard isn't good either. Oilers just too much offense, Kuemper played great at times, but he was under constant pressure all series, thought the Kings would win, I thought wrong. Whenever I bet against Edmonton, I hold my breath anytime McJesus has the puck, I haven't seen stick handling like that since Gretzky
It certainly could change, but Edmonton the last few years seem to get a slow start in each round and then bring it strong and win and move on to the next series.

I didn't see this till the 3rd period yesterday. Would have been tough to call that one along with the game Rantenan had.
Can only hope the Blues dont take this crowd out of this game.
