Interesting....

The Jets aren’t Choking. They may be playing against the best eighth seed we’ve ever seen. If you take the NHL results from February 1 till the end of the season, roughly 40% of the regular season, The
@StLouisBlues
the best team in hockey. So they were definitely the hottest team in hockey going into the playoffs… which you can read about on http://Hockeybuzz.com But here’s a part of the article below that shows what the first round matchups would’ve been if we had just matched the teams by how they played over the last 40% of the season . There’s only one Canadian team that wouldn’t have made it …

i have some futures with toronto. I will be surprised if toronto wins this series even though up 1

good win bushay!
I'm thinking it was more of a fluke that game was so close. Nothing changes win or lose in game 2 as Florida can come back from 0-3 and it would not surprise me or anyone. It was important the Leafs had the right frame of mind these 1st 2 games. Especially game 1. And they did. Woll simply wasn't ready to be thrown in the fire on short notice as I'm sure like every other Leaf he was caught up in the hype and then he needed to suit up like he did and failed big time but they still hung on and won. Just listening to the Sportsnet announcers they feel just as confident with either goaltender going forward. I'm personally much more confident with Stolarz. He played with, and won a ring with Florida. It was a financial decision, but they choose not to resign him and now he has an opportunity to have the last say here. Should he not be concussed and plays again this series that is. But the way Florida handled the LIghtning so easily, this team scares everyone. It's all about keeping their composure now, especially should they shock the world and win game 2 on Wednesday night. They need to be ready going forward. Win or lose.

Some sick games and endings lately, I guess we are seeing why the NHL Playoffs are special. I guess I'm a homer with my brackets and have VGK to make it out of the West meeting either the Leafs or Panthers with VGK winning hopefully! This round I took VGK +1.5 games -180 and straight up at +100 against the Oilers. I do have a concern if VGK can handle the Oilers team speed. I have no concern that VGK will be able to score throughout the series, let's see what happens, enjoy round 2~~~

Nice call on the Leafs in game 1 Bushay

I didn't play it. Yet. But everything I'm seeing and reading says these EDM/Vegas should be real shootouts. Over 6.5 -115 when I looked earlier.

I hate playing totals though.

I still like the Leafs to win the series, I think the Panthers number is too high and we are getting a better and reasonable price since they are the champs and the Leafs are playing their back up goalie who in my opinion is a no.1 goalie in the league.

Game 5 - Leafs +0.5 -137 - 60 Min Regulation Line - 2 units - pinny

Leafs to win series +173 - 1 unit - pinny

Interesting thing about the Capitals is that 13 players played in over 75 regular season games. No team in 30 year sample has won a cup in 30 years playing that many position players that many games .

Looks like a Florida/Edm finals rematch. Florida won in 7 last year.

Edm will likely be without Ekholm. And their goaltending is worse than the Leafs.

Difficult not to predict a Florida repeat.

Leafs need to move Marner in the off season. He's invisible out there tonight for the 1st 2 periods anyways. Mathews almost as bad.

They don't like the rough play. Edm addressed that issue already. But did they do enough?

The Panthers championship DNA showed tonight, as did the Leafs losing DNA. One team expected to win tonight, the other team hoped they would win, Panthers dominated in every way possible tonight and earned the much deserved win

Played the Hurricanes at +05 to win series, great home team, Anderson finally healthy. Canes 42-1 on season, 7-0 in playoffs when they give up 2 goals or less.

Can't believe Carolina is favored in game one. They have been sitting for 5 days. Fla will be the same Fla we saw in their 4 W's in the Leafs series.

Canes are great at home, and Panthers coming off a game seven win, but it wasn't like a close, hard fought, emotional game, the Panthers dominated, for the most part the game was over midway through the second period, so the easy win negates the fact it was a game seven

I'm starting to agree with Bushay, I think we see a finals rematch from last year. There's no doubt Stars have the edge in net with Otter over Skinner, but the Kings with Kuemper had the same edge, as did the Knights with Hill, and it didn't matter. The Oilers struggled the first two games of the playoffs, then something happened and they flipped a switch, and it isn't just McJesus and Draisaitl, they're getting contributions from the others as well, I have a future on Dallas to win the Cup, but I think they're up against it here, Rantanen is playing out of his mind, but can he sustain that level of play? Not so sure, think the Oilers advance.

The Panthers/Canes should be a rock fight, two teams with similar styles. I don't think Tkachuk is anywhere close to 100%, but so far in the playoffs it hasn't mattered, they're getting goals from all four lines, the additions of Seth Jones and Brad Marchand at the trade deadline have paid big dividends, I still can't get used to seeing Marchand in a Panthers jersey, LOL. They've gotten goals from 17 different players this postseason, that's a crazy stat. their defensemen have scored more goals and have more points than any other team in the playoffs, they're not reliant on their big guns to score. They play a style of hockey that wears opponents down, the Canes match up well with them, but until someone beats them four times, I'll keep picking them.

I heard someone make a comment that I think is spot on. Some teams are built for 82, some teams are built for 16. Winnipeg crushed the regular season, but they're not as built for the playoffs like Dallas. Toronto is the same, they're built for the regular season, whereas Florida is built for 16. The Caps won the EC regular season, they dominated all year, but they're not built for 16, the Canes are
