Two things here - I would bet all of these players were more accomplished before they were drafted. What happens if the kid is way in over his head? Now you are playing one short every night to appease LeBron.

There have been plenty of takes and comments about the decision of the Los Angeles Lakers to draft Bronny James, the son of LeBron James. Here’s one that is relevant to the NFL.

Agent Rich Paul reportedly told other teams not to draft Bronny James, explaining that if they did he’d play in Australia.

While there’s no Australian equivalent for NFL players, the point is that James and his agent identified an alternative, were willing to pursue it, and let teams know about it.

And no one called his bluff. Why would they? Teams want players who want to be there. The relationship gets off to a horrible start if the player arrives kicking and screaming. Or if he doesn’t arrive at all.

And the other reason, the biggest reason other teams didn't call their bluff is because no one wanted him.

The kid was over-matched in the West and has either a bad heart or a coke problem. Maybe both.

In short, no one was drafting Bronny other than Daddy, certainly no one who knows anything about hoops.

Nepotism is everywhere in sports. They are making a big deal about this on social media. Check the last names of most ownership or high ranking administrators on most teams. That's one of the primary reason most times are stuck in mud, the exception, KC Chiefs...

First off, the whole 8M isn't guaranteed, 5.4 is guaranteed. Second, last year with the 58th and final pick of the draft, Milwaukee selected Chris Livingston, they gave him a 4 year contract worth 7.7M, is there any outrage over the Bucks giving Livingston 4/7.7 as the last pick in the draft, or only Bronny getting 4/7.9

Also, in last year's draft, with the 57th pick, the Wizards took Trace Jackson Davis, they traded him to the Warriors who signed him to a 4 year deal worth 7.7M, with 3 of it guaranteed, any outrage over GS giving the 57th pick the same deal the Lakers gave Bronny? Funny, I don't recall any threads about Livingston's or Jackson Davis's contracts, but the Lakers give Bronny the same contract, drafted at the same spot, holy hell guy's are losing their minds. Like I said, the LeBron hatred will be on full display in this thread

Judging a kid based off one year in college after collapsing on the court with cardiac arrest isn't really fair. Don't you think we should allow him to play a couple of years and see what kind of player he is before passing judgement? It's obvious the kid needs another year or two in college, and if LeBron had already been retired that's likely what would have happened, but no way to know how many more years LeBron will play, and with a chance to play with his dad, I can't blame Bronny for turning pro, of course it would be best for him to stay in college, but I understand why he didn't

The Lakers signing Bronny isn't what's driving FA's elsewhere, they're signing with teams that are closer to winning a Chip, Klay looks at LA and Dallas and it's easy to see why he chose Dallas, he's looking for another ring, Dallas gives him that opportunity more than LA, at best the Lakers are the 8th best team in the West, they're not close to competing for a Chip, that's what guys are looking for

Which is why he was drafted at the end of the second round, he shouldn't be judged off of one year in college after having a heart problem, let's see what type of player he does or doesn't develop into in the next couple of years, had the Lakers taken him in the first round I can see the outrage, but drafting late in the second round you're just taking a flyer on whoever you take, Bronny has just as much of a chance at becoming a good player as anyone else they would have taken in that spot

Why are they drafting a player with a heart issue? The best player on USC didn’t get drafted.

Now we wait howid plays. If Bronny can hold his own when he's on the court, ok. If he can't and still getting quality minutes, not ok. I'm not sure if there will be an agreement to lay off him. That's also a possibility. All Star rules defense when he has the ball.

The whole thing is ridiculous. There are other examples but none this blatant. Fakers are done as a championship contending team until Lebron retires. These fuckers went through this with Kobe and they are doing it again with Lebron when he has more roots with the Heat and Cavs.

You guys can say it as much as you want but it's not true. MJ or Bird, probably my 2 all-time favs, did the same thing I would be against it as well.

Truth be told I doubt either one of those guys would pull a stunt like this.

For the once proud Laker organization it announces to the world - not what you do on the court, it's who your Daddy is that's important.

We would probably miss on the pick anyway - instead of putting the team and organization first, let's put Brick and his personal wish list first.

Gee, no wonder everyone says they can't contend these days.

And for players the message is even worse. Not the best, not the most deserving, not the hardest working, it's who your Daddy is that counts.

Yeah, not sure why Kane keeps mentioning the heart issue as though it's a good thing when drafting an already undeserving player, LOL.

For other players it really sucks. The guys that work harder. The guys that are better. The guys that them and their family actually need the money.

The guys around the league that could have taken that spot and actually contributed some minutes.

And for Laker fans that pay top dollar for ST's? Maybe a refund is in order?

We expect you to do all you can to win, not cower down to some balding middle-aged man trying to complete his bucket list.

He is 6' 1" and 3 quarters.....who do you want him guarding? Kyrie, Curry, Fox.....they'll eat him up. He has some athleticism
and a high IQ but the issue is not his draft position and level of pay, but whether he'd even be signed as a FA but not for his
last name.

Normally a guy like bronny would not be on the court with the first team very much(with lebron), he really shouldn't get many min at all, watch him get extensive playing time with lebron where lebron will feed him the ball to look good.

This is the kind of stuff that is really going to become a distraction as Brick plays mother-hen to his son.

I truly feel sorry for the players and coaches who will have to deal with this King/Prince dynamic all season.
