I'm glad you posted this photo, if you look just to the left at the base of the flag pole you see a secret service agent, if you look to his right and his left, you see two more agents, and those are the ones who you can easily see, there are dozens of them stationed all around the WH, if anyone got anywhere close to the WH, they would be dealt with, meaning most likely shot, the president had nothing to worry about that night
